Nocturnes
Two slow piano pieces grown from the Bloom ".stutter" method.
Part of the Bloom family
Premiere — Andrea Lodge · Spectrum NYC, premiere · 2017-04-09
Two nocturnes for solo piano, about nine minutes. They came out of a Bloom method I call .stutter — it’s like an Escher, where each rhythmic shift establishes a new, radically disconnected perspective on time. The score is printed in the appendix of my dissertation.
